Hard to believe we’re in Heaven

Hell may just be more fun

I was hoping for pearly gates and a scantily clad celestial choir. Instead, the roller-hockey rink where the much- ballyhooed dance party “Heaven” was held on December 20 was virtually empty, save for the DJs, a few discouraged promoters and my friend Denise as the lone soul dressed like an angel. Heaven had the potential to be a major party, but the word down here on Earth is that likely attendees couldn’t afford (or weren’t willing to pay) the $30 ticket price at the door, especially when they can see some of the same DJs spin in nightclubs for free. At least the DJ sets I caught were good, and the ol’ booze-in-a-soda-bottle trick still worked, because—you guessed it—there’s no bar in Heaven.
