In August, a Chicago radio station added “Great Divide,” the lead single from Hanson’s new album The Walk, to their regular rotation, only they didn’t tell their listeners who the band was. Instead, they billed Hanson as a “mystery artist,” and within three weeks the song became the station’s most requested. This should come as no surprise to anyone who’s kept an open mind and heard the band’s last two albums, full of catchy, guitar-driven pop that’s both musically accomplished and accessible to a wide audience. The brothers from Tulsa are excellent songwriters and musicians, and if you let memories of “MMMBop” keep you from finding that out, you’re only depriving yourself of some great music. –Josh Bell
