Hometown: Farmingdale, New York
Age: 28
Profession: Dancer, artist, yoga teacher
Profile: Understandably, all eyes are on Jada Fire when she's performing a sultry, ethnic fusion dance, one of her dynamic fire-dances or using skin as her canvas, body-painting a living masterpiece. When she's not the center of attention at Tangerine, Empire Ballroom or the Foundation Room, Jada teaches yoga and trance-dance, and holds Goddess retreats where ladies do yoga, dance, celebrate and explore their creative energies.
Why I Do What I Do: "The energy comes from a very sacred and primal place. I like to incorporate a lot of multicultural energies that every one can relate to. I like to really exude artistry through what I do rather than just sheer sexuality; I'm interesting the dimensions of art and movement. It's not a stripper act."
Personal Tidbit: Media mama! It was a "metaphysical comic book superhero" Jada created five years ago that inspired her adopted name; the adventures of Jada Fire will appear in a 42-page coffee-table book available later this year. She also has a yoga DVD and a CD, The Spoken World.
Last movie seen: The Secret.
Latest Accomplishment: 2007 is all about the artwork. Jada is joining Gallery 1218, an artist collective space Downtown at 1218 Main Street. Get a taste at www.jadafire.com.
Quote: "Energy is very real, and we need to take responsibility for our own energy."
