1. If you flip for jam bands ...
Friday, late night: Dave & Tim (Orleans), then Keller Williams (HOB). Sucks to miss Trey, but you can hit Dave & Tim at 8 and still make Keller at 1.
Saturday, 1:15-2:15: Praxis. Sixty minutes might be enough for three songs.
Saturday, 2:40-4:15: MMW with Maceo; Yonder Mountain String Band. Major bummer splitting afternoon sets this way, but festivals are about choices ... and comfortable shoes.
Saturday, 4:30: Snack. Don't forget to eat, even if security dumps your stealth veggie burritos.
Saturday, 5-6:45: The Keller Williams Incident. Two great tastes that taste better together. Now if only moe. or Umphrey's McGee would show up and surprise guest.
Saturday, 7:30-9: The Black Crowes. They've been loading up the jams since returning to the road last year.
Saturday, 1 a.m.: Sound Tribe Sector 9 (The Joint). Petty would be fun, but tix to STS9 are scarce, so you'd better get there early.
Sunday, 2:25-3: Galactic. A groovin' way to start your day, though you'll have to cut it short to see ...
Sunday, 3-4:30: The Rhythm Devils. Billy, Mickey and Mike, on the same stage? And with Phil and Trey lurking backstage? Endless possibilities.
Sunday, 5:15-7:15: Phil & Trey. Two straight Dead-Phish crossover performances. To paraphrase the Cocteau Twins, is this heaven or Las Vegas?
Sunday, 8-11: Widespread Panic. Ahhh, three hours of Southern-fried goodness.
Sunday, late night: The String Cheese Incident (Orleans Arena), Particle (Empire Ballroom). Ah, but there's more. Think you can outlast the tunes?
Monday, 7 p.m.: Widespread Panic (MGM Grand). Wear your costume, and show up on time to see The Meters.
Tuesday, 6 p.m.: RAQ (Aruba Hotel). Still want more? The Las Vegas JamBand Society has your back.
2. If you've been called a music snob ...
Saturday, 12:20-1:20: Gomez. The new album name-drops Charley Patton. What could be cooler?
Saturday, 1:30-2:30: Cat Power & The Memphis Rhythm Band. Man or woman, you know you'd marry her if she'd only ask.
Saturday, 2:55-3:55: Dr. Octagon. Before anyone had heard of "backpack" hip-hop, this guy was underground rap.
Saturday, 3:50-4:50: The Raconteurs. We wish it were The White Stripes, too, but nobody asked us.
Saturday, 5: Beer run. Wait, only American in this tent? Where's the Grolsch or Guinness?
Saturday, 6:25-7:55: The Mars Volta. Just so you can call out for ATDI songs at the breaks.
Saturday, 8:05-9:35: The Killers. In places you don't talk about, you love "Somebody Told Me."
Sunday, 12:20-1:20: Band of Horses. Start day two with a band that got an 8.8 from Pitchfork.
Sunday, 1:15-2:15: Built to Spill. Doug Martsch is the cool, indie uncle you always wished you had.
Sunday, 3:50-5:05: Fiona Apple. Since you wouldn't risk your cred by catching her open for Coldplay in February.
Sunday, 5:05-6:20: Jenny Lewis with The Watson Twins. Did you know she acted in Troop Beverly Hills and Pleasantville? Of course you did.
Sunday, 7:30-9: Jim James. If he's shaved off the beard, hit the road. He can't get away with that crap.
