"The other day, I went on a mountain-bike ride when I was back home the day before I left. And I was riding out of a strip mall, getting ready to go out on the ride, and there was a kid there that was riding a skateboard, and he looked at me when he saw me, and he goes, 'Oh my God, hey, hey!' And I turned, and he goes 'Audioslave!' And I was like, 'Yeah,' with my buddies, just going, 'Yeah, Audioslave.'"

Buckethead & Friends
Enter The Chicken (2 stars)
|
Is anyone awaiting the nu-metal Jeff Beck? Best known for his short stint in Guns N' Roses, Buckethead is really an amazing guitar player, with really interesting friends such as Serj Tankian from System of a Down, who produced Enter the Chicken. But virtuosity can't save this effort from being as dull and dry as it is technically superb.
The Lovemakers
Times of Romance (4 stars)
|
The Lovemakers have had their ups and downs, but with the release of their latest CD, they have reached their highest songwriting achievement. Their fusion of retro '80s keyboard-dominated pop and contemporary dance beats are sure to delight those who love to groove. The band's ability to embrace their own sexuality (onstage and off) and their love of a style of music that has been somewhat neglected for 25 years are both odd and strangely inspiring.

CKY
An Answer Can Be Found (1 star)
Despite Deron Miller having a case of Stapp-throat, CKY would never be mistaken for the more anathematic Creed. The bland songwriting and forgettable metal/punk on An Answer Can Be Found suggests the question was, "Where can I find a boring, generic disc to play?"
