THE DREAM ZONE |
with Lauri Quinn Loewenberg
I've been having dreams I'm in my grandmother's house, standing in front of the glass door. As I look outside, someone walks up to the door and tries to open it as I try to lock it. But the lock won't work. The figure is so tall that I can't see its face. There are also headless chickens dancing around in the yard. Then two men in suits walk up to the door and ask to come inside. I go into the living room to go outside the front door and find two people walking up to that door as well! I realize I'm surrounded and I wake up.

Can you help me? I am happily married and have two beautiful children. I am a stay-at-home mom and feel very fortunate that I am able to stay home with them. A year ago my sister moved to Vegas and I started taking care of her little boy while she teaches. Last summer she had a baby, along with my other sister. As of August, I have five kids during the daytwo newborns, two 2-year-olds and my 6-year-old son.
Needless to say, I have had my hands full and it has been a very hard year. I have recently made the decision to stop taking care of my sisters' kids. There is a large part of me that feels bad that I can't continue to help my sister out. Am I making the right decision and what is next for me?
FEELING BAD
Dear Feeling Bad,
You are doing the right thing by telling your sisters that you cannot afford to care for their children. The sister with the two kids will be more upset than the sister with one child. You need to focus on your 2-year old. Your littlest one should not have to compete for youit might cause behavior problems.
I am not worried about your 6-year oldhe is an absolute delight and will always take responsibility for his life. Don't be surprised if the stork has one more delivery for you.
Your husband can't wait to have his woman back and the house feeling less chaotic. You have an amazing creative side and I would like you to take a writing class and/or a cooking class. There's an additional income stream coming just from your creative efforts, which will allow you to step a little bit into the limelight yourself.
There's no Place Like Home
I moved out here to Vegas about a month ago. I'm living with my best friend and her family and friends.
I feel that I shouldn't be here. My son is back home and I miss him. I'm also pregnant right now. My son is 2 years old and his father is dating someone else and she is pregnant also. I still love him. This girl that he's dating now is four years younger than I and it really bothers me. Will he come back to me? Should I go back home? This baby that I'm pregnant with, I'm not sure whom the father is. Will this baby complicate my life? Please help me.
HOMESICK IN VEGAS
Dear Homesick,
The cards are saying go back home because there is nothing for you here. The quicker you stop comparing yourself to anyone else, the better. You are not destined to be without the love of your life and I see that he is back home.
If you think that this baby will complicate your life, please consider putting the child up for adoption. This baby deserves the loving support of a family.
Gift for Detecting Deception
I am pursuing a career in law enforcement and I am wondering if you see that happening and my husband being able to deal with this matter.
LADY LAW
Dear Law,
Yes, you'll be really good at it. My cards say that you have to make the total commitment to it no later than the end of May. You eventually won't be an active police officer; I see you being someone who uncovers the bad people. Someone who can tune into what doesn't feel right and follow up on it.
I'd also like you to think about psychology (tuition reimbursement through the new job) because that's how you'll be helping to solve things like murders, drug runs and illegal activities. And you'll be amazing.
This career for you will be bigger than you expect with a book or movie coming out of a crime you solve.
