Apparitions of the Ice Age tells a powerful story of change, extinction and survival. The exhibit offers a unique experience that bridges art, science and history, demonstrating how scientific research allows us to understand and reconstruct past environments.

Renowned paleo artist Dr. Julius Csotonyi brings to life the fascinating world of the Ice Age with four new paintings, each vividly depicting life in the Tule Springs region over the past 100,000 years. Alongside the paintings, visitors can marvel at fossils collected from Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument – including a Columbian mammoth tusk and a camel jaw – which provide a tangible connection to a distant past.

About Dr. Csotonyi

Since childhood, Dr. Julius Csotonyi has nurtured his passion for drawing dinosaurs. His paleoart career began in 2005 with his work illustrating a dinosaur encyclopedia by UK author Dougal Dixon. He has since spent his career expanding his portfolio to include all branches of scientifically inspired artwork and has collaborated with major museums and book publishers worldwide, including the National Geographic Society and the Royal Tyrrell Museum.

As a natural history illustrator with an MS in Ecology and Environmental Biology and a PhD in Microbiology, Dr. Csotonyi collaborates closely with fellow researchers to ensure his artwork is visually stunning and scientifically accurate. Through his work, he invites viewers to see the connection between prehistoric life and our present-day environment, inspiring motivation to protect today’s biodiversity.

Entry into the Museum is $6.00 for adults, free for members and children 17 and under.
