UFC 92 has been aptly named The Ultimate 2008 for its impressive fight card. This stacked card is “really a card and a half,” according to Frank Mir, who will take on fellow Ultimate Fighter coach, Antonio “Minatoro” Nogueira for the interim Heavyweight belt in one of the three main card match-ups of the night.
Also fighting in a title match are Ultimate Fighter alums Forrest Griffin and “Sugar” Rashad Evans. Evans hopes to take the Light Heavyweight belt away from Griffin who earned it this summer by defeating Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

Jackson will face Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva and the winner will likely be the number one contender for a shot at the Light Heavyweight belt in ’09. There has been a lot of trash talking, mainly by Silva, during the buildup to this fight. Silva had to be held back as he attempted to throw punches at today’s weigh in. Jackson, sporting some white fur-trimmed Santa boxers on the scale, took it in stride and seemed very relaxed in the face of Silva’s intimidation attempts. The pair has met twice before in the now defunct Pride organization and Silva was victorious each time.
If you don’t want to order pay-per-view or you can’t afford the steep ticket prices, you can still catch the fight card at several local venues. Televised coverage of UFC 92 will be shown at several of the Station Casinos in town where a $10 cover gets you your first drink free and a chance to watch the fights on several large screens.
