While UNLV football has been a sorry sight this season, with a current record of 2-9, there’s another squad of Rebel men well worth watching: the UNLV men’s soccer team, which won its first conference championship in 27 years earlier this month and finished the regular season with a record of 13-4-2, outscoring opponents 38-21. So yeah, the boys can ball. And with a dramatic win (penalty-kick shootout!) against Cal State Bakersfield last week, the squad earned an NCAA tournament berth, ending a serious dry spell. Perhaps Rebel fans should move the tailgate party back to campus next fall.
