- Interview with The Cranberries' Noel Hogan (12/1/09)
Five great things you missed at The Cranberries concert Thursday night at The Pearl …and one thing we could have done without:
5. The brothers Hogan are still hot in an Irish rocker kinda way.
4. Oh my god, shoes. From opener Griffin House’s white boots that he bought on Haight/Ashbury, to Dolores O’Riordan’s designer high-top Chucks, there was some fancy footwear going on.
3. The Cranberries playing all their hits with perfection, plus many album favorites, made for the kind of feel-good show where you can sing along without hesitating on the lyrics.
2. ZAHHHHHHHAAAAMMMMBIIIIEEEE! ZAHHHHHHHAAAAMMMMBIIIIEEEE! ZAHHHHHHHAAAAMMMMBIIIIEEEE!
1. While O’Riordan’s vocals were as amazing as they’ve always been (and some pretty good guitar playing on her part, too), her dancing around the stage was entertaining on its own.
On the negative side, singer/songwriter Griffin House (who’s definitely worth checking out) put it best: “Sometimes you’re at a show and 95 percent of the audience is listening, but you’ve got someone next to you that keeps talking. If you want to punch one of them, that’s okay with me. ... I’ll play a loud song now so you can keep talking.”
